IOWA CITY, Iowa – The Iowa men’s basketball team will have close to a full roster when it faces Lindsey Wilson College in an exhibition game on Monday at Carver-Hawkeye Arena.

And that includes senior point guard Jordan Bohannon.

Iowa coach Fran McCaffery said Wednesday on a teleconference that Bohannon will play in Monday’s game.

“I think he’ll play some on Monday,” McCaffery said. “He had a good practice yesterday and he’s getting back into it. We’ll see how it goes.”

Bohannon had hip surgery in late May and was expected to be out for five to nine months, leaving his status for this season in doubt.

“He’s not where he wants to be, he’s not where he could be,” McCaffery said. “But I’ve been really impressed with his determination to get back to where he’s one of the best players in our leagues. Take it one day at a time here with practice and the exhibition game.

“We’ll see if he can play through it. If not, we’ll shut him down."

Bohannon could play in a certain number of game this season and still take a redshirt season.

The former Linn-Mar star made third-team All-Big Ten last season and is Iowa’s all-time leader with 264 3-point baskets.

In other news, McCaffery said junior forward Cordell Pemsl is back with the team after having been suspended last month following his arrest for operating a vehicle intoxicated.

McCaffery said Pemsl will sit out the exhibition game and Iowa’s season opener next Friday against Southern Illinois-Edwardsville.

Pemsl had knee surgery last December and redshirted last season. The Dubuque native has played in 68 games as a Hawkeye and has career averages of 7.2 points and 4.7 rebounds per game.
