Iowa offer ‘special’ for 2021 defensive back Keagan Johnson
By Tyler Devine
IOWA CITY, Iowa – The Iowa football team does not throw scholarship offers around with reckless abandon.
That is why when 2021 defensive back Keagan Johnson received an offer from the Hawkeyes during a visit over the weekend, it felt a little different than the others.
“It feels great,” Johnson said. “They’re very limited with who they offer as a program, so this offer is special. I had an idea (that Iowa would offer), but hearing them tell you is always a great feeling.”
Johnson, a native of Bellevue, Neb., also has offers from Nebraska, Iowa State, Northern Illinois and South Dakota State.
Even with the offer from his home state Huskers, the 6-foot-1, 175-pound Johnson isn’t favoring any one school.
“It would be tough (to turn down Nebraska),” Johnson said. “But at this stage in my recruiting, I am one hundred percent open to all of my options. I have a clear mind because I want to make the best decision for my future.”
Johnson also said he liked the family atmosphere during his visit to Iowa.
“Mainly the hospitality they showed me (stood out),” Johnson said. “They really made me feel at home as soon as I got on campus.”
Iowa currently has six players committed to its 2021 class.
