Army All-American Bowl ‘great experience’ for Logan Jones

IOWA CITY, Iowa – Three-star defensive lineman Logan Jones got his first taste of playing on a national stage on Saturday.
The Council Bluffs native and 2020 Iowa signee played in the U.S. Army All-American Bowl in San Antonio, Texas with and against high school players from across the country.
“It was a great experience, I’d say,” Jones said. “I got exposed to a lot of talented guys and it was just fun seeing out I compared to them. Just seeing how I compared to those guys was a big thing to me.”
One such comparison came in one-on-one drills when the 6-foot-3, 260-pound Jones faced off against five-star Ohio State offensive line commit Paris Johnson.
A video circulated on Twitter of Jones handily beating the 6-foot-7, 295-pound Johnson during a pass rush drill.
The video was viewed over 74,000 times on Twitter, but Jones downplayed the hype surrounding it.
“Obviously, he is a pretty good tackle so going against him is a confidence boost,” Jones said. “I don’t make too big of a deal out of it. I know once we both get to college it’s going to be totally different so, no, I don’t make it a big deal.”
It wasn’t all about football, however.
Jones and his family were able to turn the experience into a mini vacation of sorts.
“I made sure once they got down there that I spent a good amount of time with them” Jones said. “We definitely enjoyed ourselves.”
As far as the actual game, Jones played mostly special teams and was hesitant to judge his performance.
“It’s one of those all-star games so you can’t really tell,” Jones said. “It was a little competitive, but we were also just out there having fun. I would say I did alright, but it wasn’t anything too special.”
Jones committed to Iowa last February and also had scholarship offers from Iowa State, Minnesota and Nebraska.
