Iowa baseball team uses solid pitching to down Kansas 8-0 on Tuesday
By Tyler Devine
IOWA CITY, Iowa – Pitching was the name of the game on Tuesday as the Iowa baseball team allowed four hits to shut out Kansas 8-0.
Senior left-hander Adam Ketelson and junior right-hander Hunter Lee combined for 11 strikeouts, four hits allowed and one walk to give Ketelson his first victory of the season.
“Me and Hunter just kind of set out, set a gameplan,” Ketelson said. “We’ve been working all year – just attack the zone. We just kind of thought to ourselves if they’re going to beat us with hits, make them beat us with hits so we’re just going to attack the zone. I think we had one walk between us. We wanted to attack and make it happen and that’s what we did all day.”

The Hawkeyes scored three runs in both the third and fourth innings and tacked on two insurance runs in the eighth.
Senior outfielder Zeb Adreon and junior designated hitter Trenton Wallace each had two runs batted in and all but one batter in the Iowa lineup reached base.
Head coach Rick Heller said before the season that Lee, a native of Des Moines, had the potential to step up and be a contributor for Iowa this season.
Heller said that he was pleased with what he saw out of Lee on Tuesday and that Lee could probably have pitched another inning if needed.
“Hopefully he can go four, five six in the mid-week game for us,” Heller said. “That would really help out the bullpen if he could do that. You see what he’s capable of doing today, that’s for sure.”
