The NCAA Tournament also has been cancelled due to concerns over the spread of the Coronavirus, and Iowa was considered a lock to the make the tournament.
McCaffery sympathized with his players, including his son Connor McCaffery, who plays both basketball and baseball for Iowa, and he praised his team for staying the course during a season that was rocked by injuries.
