IOWA CITY, Iowa – Ida Grove native Cooper DeJean became the eighth player to commit to the Iowa football team's 2021 recruiting class Tuesday.
DeJean, a three-star prospect according to Rivals.com, announced his commitment via Twitter.
"The culture there is amazing," DeJean said. "The coaches are great and they have a great tradtion. I feel like it's the best place for me."
As an Iowa native, the idea of playing in Kinnick Stadium was especially intriguing to DeJean.
"It's great growing up watching them walk out of that tunnel with 'Back in Black' playing. It's a dream come true."
The 6-foot-2, 198-pound DeJean is expected to play safety for the Hawkeyes, which makes him the first defensive back in the class.
All but two players in Iowa's 2021 class are Iowa natives, along with Minnesota native Justice Sullivan and Illinois native Gennings Dunker.
