IOWA CITY, Iowa – Tyler McLaurin’s connection to the Iowa football team got stronger Thursday when the 2021 linebacker received a scholarship offer from the Hawkeyes.
But that connection doesn’t stop off the football field.
“It means a lot because I have a ton of family members that love the culture there,” McLaurin said. “It also means a lot because my brother goes to Iowa and it would allow us to stay close.”
McLaurin, a native of Bolingbrook, Ill., now has 15 scholarship offers according to Rivals.com, but said that he doesn’t currently have any favorites.
When it comes time to makes a decision, the idea of being close to his brother will be on McLaurin’s mind.
“He will for sure be a part of my decision because I still want him to be able to make games and see me play,” McLaurin said.
Among other things, the 6-foot-3, 215-pound McLaurin admires the passion that the Iowa players have.
“There’s that extra bit of fire that they show because they have such pride playing for the university,” McLaurin said.
Last season, McLaurin 92 tackles, four forced fumbles, two fumble recoveries and an interception.
