Four-star 2022 athlete Sebastian Cheeks grateful for Iowa offer

IOWA CITY, Iowa – Despite his high school football season being derailed by COVID-19, 2022 four-star athlete Sebastian Cheeks has still received four Power Five scholarship offers in the last week, including one from Iowa on Tuesday.
Since Sept. 1, Cheeks has also received offers from Minnesota, Louisville and Indiana.
“It’s big,” Cheeks said. “Especially considering (Iowa doesn’t) offer guys right away. I’m grateful that they value me.”
Cheeks, a native of Evanston, Ill., was supposed to visit Iowa during the spring, but NCAA restrictions on in-person contact between coaches and recruits due to COVID-19 stopped that from happening.
Cheeks said he likes Iowa’s penchant for sending players to the NFL and is eager to learn more about the program.
“(I want to learn) more about the culture of the program and what they like to do over there as far as scheming and coverages,” Cheeks said.
The 6-foot-2, 205-pound Cheeks also holds Power Five offers from Boston College, Iowa State, Kentucky, Michigan, Northwestern, Notre Dame, Syracuse and Wisconsin.
Cheeks said he wants to keep his recruitment as open as possible and does not currently have any favorites.
Iowa currently has one player committed to its 2022 recruiting class in four-star Gowrie, Iowa, native Aaron Graves.
