Iowa’s game against Nebraska postponed due COVID concerns with Nebraska
Game was scheduled for next Sunday at Carver-Hawkeye Arena
IOWA CITY, Iowa — For the second time in less than a week, the Iowa men’s basketball team has had a game postponed due to COVID-19 health concerns with the opponent.
Iowa’s game against Nebraska, which was scheduled for this coming Sunday at Carver-Hawkeye Arena, has been postponed.
The Cornhuskers continue to pause team activities for a minimum of seven more days due to additional positive COVID-19 results among its Tier 1 personnel. Tier 1 personnel include student athletes, coaches and any staff member whose job requires close regular contact.
Nebraska said Sunday in a release that head coach Fred Hoiberg has tested positive for COVID-19.
The two institutions will work with the Big Ten Conference to identify rescheduling options.
The postponement is the second to affect the Hawkeyes in the last week, the other being last Thursday’s game against Michigan State at Carver-Hawkeye Arena. The Spartans had to postpone after reportedly having at least three players test positive for COVID-19.
Iowa defeated Northwestern 96-73 on Sunday in Evanston, Ill., pushing its winning streak to five games.
Iowa’s next game is against Indiana on Thursday at Carver-Hawkeye Arena. The game still is set to be played as of Sunday afternoon.
