IOWA CITY, Iowa – Jahsiah Galvan was recently rated as a three-star prospect in the 2022 class by Rivals.com.
The West Liberty, Iowa, native said he has been in contact with Iowa director of recruiting Tyler Barnes and is hopeful that those conversations eventually involve a scholarship offer from the Hawkeyes.
“It definitely would be huge for me,” Galvan said. “(It would be) pretty great to have the college I grew up rooting for offer me.”
Galvan said Iowa, Iowa State, Nebraska and South Dakota are showing the most interest.
Nebraska and South Dakota have offered Galvan scholarships.
He also has offers from Dartmouth, Northern Iowa and Pennsylvania.
The 6-foot-2, 180-pound Galvan said the COVID-19 pandemic has had a big effect on his recruitment.
The NCAA currently has a dead period in place that prohibits in-person contact between coaches and recruits through at least April 15.
“I haven’t really been able to get to camps or go work out in front of those college coaches and get more offers or be able to visit these schools to see what they’re like and meet the coaches,” Galvan said.
Galvan plays running back and defensive back for West Liberty High School, but said schools are mostly recruiting him as a defensive back.
Iowa currently has one player verbally committed to its 2022 class in four-star defensive lineman Aaron Graves, a native of Gowrie, Iowa.
