Chauncey Golston first Hawkeye taken in 2021 NFL Draft
By Tyler Devine
Few, if any, had Chauncey Golston as the first former Hawkeye to be selected in the 2021 NFL Draft.
But that’s exactly what happened Friday night when the Detroit, Mich., native was selected by the Dallas Cowboys in the third round.
Fellow defensive lineman Daviyon Nixon was expected to be taken before Golston.
Nixon, a native of Kenosha, Wis., was named a unanimous consensus All-American following the 2020 season.
Golston was a first-team All-Big Ten selection last season and had 5.5 sacks and 8.5 tackles for loss.
The 6-foot-5, 269-pound Golston accumulated 129 tackles in 43 tackles during his Hawkeye career.
