2022 kicker Drew Stevens talks Iowa in top seven, Monday decision

IOWA CITY, Iowa – The only school west of the Mississippi River to make the top seven for 2022 kicker Drew Stevens was Iowa.
Stevens announced this top seven schools on Wednesday via Twitter.
A big reason for that is that Stevens, a native of North Augusta, S.C., has a family connection to Iowa – his mother is from Okoboji.
Despite going to school at Iowa State, Stevens said his mother is a die-hard Iowa fan.
“I have family there,” Stevens said. “They play in the Big Ten. Really, I just have a lot of connections to there.”
Stevens’ other top schools are Georgia Tech, Virginia Tech, Coastal Carolina, South Carolina, Old Dominion and North Carolina State.
Stevens said he plans to visit Iowa on Friday and Saturday before making his final decision on Monday.
Stevens also said he doesn’t have plans to visit any schools besides Iowa before he makes his decision.
“We’re going to take some time to sit down and also take the visit to Iowa first,” Stevens said.
Stevens said Iowa has extended a preferred walk-on opportunity.
