Hawk Fanatic Week 2 predictions
IOWA CITY, Iowa – With the enormous hype surrounding the top-10 showdown between Iowa and Iowa State, it’s easy to forget that some other games of significance will be played this week.
And here in addition to Iowa vs. Iowa State are four other games as part of our week two predictions.
Pat Harty and Tyler Devine both finished 3-2 with their picks from last week, which is barely above average, and much like the Big Ten West Division based on what has transpired so far.
Pat and Tyler both spend long minutes making their picks, and this is what they have for week two:
Pat Harty
Iowa State 20, Iowa 17: Considering my horrible track record in picking the winner of this annual showdown, I’d like to think that I’m actually doing Iowa a favor by picking Iowa State.
Ohio State 41, Oregon 24: This game should be given a speeding ticket.
Michigan 30, Washington 21: This once-proud rivalry is sort of like Nebraska football in that it’s mostly been irrelevant for over two decades.
Rutgers 28, Syracuse 24: The sounds coming from the Carrier Dome on Saturday, thankfully, will be from two football programs heading in opposite directions, and not from Jim Boeheim bitching and moaning to the officials about a call.
Virginia 34, Illinois 20: Bret Bielema’s rebuilding job at Illinois probably would go a lot faster if he could play Nebraska multiple times during a season.
Last week: 3-2
Tyler Devine
Iowa State 10, Iowa 7: There will be seven turnovers, but no lightning delays.
Ohio State 56, Oregon 31: This game serves as a preview of the alliance, which isn’t necessarily a good thing.
Washington 28, Michigan 24: I have no legitimate reason for picking this result based on Washington’s performance last week.
Rutgers 22, Syracuse 21: I simply prefer the color scarlet to the color orange.
Virginia 27, Illinois 24: Is Al Groh still the coach at Virginia?
Last week: 3-2
