2022 Indiana tight end commits to “Tight End U”
Cael Vanderbush was previously committed to Western Michigan
IOWA CITY, Iowa – Cael Vanderbush has committed to “Tight End U,” or at least that’s how George Kittle probably would describe it.
Vanderbush, a 6-foot-5, 205-pound high school senior tight end from Plainfield, Indiana, announced his commitment to Iowa on Twitter Monday night.
He picked a program that has a long and distinguished track record of producing star tight ends, including Kittle, who now plays for the NFL’s San Francisco 49ers after having played at Iowa from 2013-16.
Kittle is considered one of the top tight ends in the NFL, and he gave his college alma mater a shout out on Sunday, saying on national television that he was from Tight U when introduced with the San Francisco starters during its game against the Green Bay Packers.
Vanderbush was previously committed to Western Michigan, but then Iowa offered a scholarship and he became the latest in a long line of recruits to pick Iowa after having been committed to team from the Mid-American Conference.
Vanderbush was among a number of recruits who visited Iowa this past weekend. He attended Iowa’s 24-14 victory over Colorado State this past Saturday at Kinnick Stadium.
Vanderbush is the 10th player to commit to Iowa’s 2022 recruiting class, and the second tight end, joining Wisconsin tight end Addison Ostrenga, who had been committed to play baseball at Iowa before switching to football.
Vanderbush is ranked as a three-star prospect by Rivals, and he currently has four scholarship offers according to Rivals from Iowa, Utah, Air Force and Western Michigan.
