Iowa adds Michigan 3-star cornerback to its 2022 recruiting class
IOWA CITY, Iowa – Iowa lost to Kentucky in the Citrus Bowl on New Year’s Day, but has since earned a victory over the Wildcats in recruiting with a commitment from Michigan 3-star defensive back Deshaun Lee.
Lee announced his commitment to Iowa Sunday on Twitter.
He picked Iowa over at least eight other scholarship offers from schools that included Kentucky, Pittsburgh and Syracuse.
Lee, a 5-foot-11, 175-pound cornerback, made an official visit to Iowa this past weekend before committing.
A native of Belleville, Michigan, Lee attends the same high school from which current Iowa defensive backs Kaevon Merriweather and Brenden Deasfernandes graduated.
Lee is the 18th player to commit to Iowa’s 2022 recruiting class, which is currently ranked 26th nationally by Rivals.
Wednesday will mark the traditional signing day in football, but it should be relatively quiet in Iowa’s case since 17 players from the 2022 class already signed during the early signing period in December.
