IOWA CITY, Iowa – The Iowa women’s basketball team has received a verbal commitment from a 2023 point guard from Illinois.

Kennise Johnson-Etienne announced her commitment to Iowa Thursday night on her Instagram account.

The 5-foot-7 Johnson-Etienne is from Plainfield, Illinois and attends Example Academy in Frankfurt, Illinois.

“I want to thank the Iowa staff and players for making me feel at home, and making me feel like a priority,” Johnson-Etienne said on her Instagram post.

Johnson-Etienne picked Iowa over scholarship offers from schools that included Michigan State and Seton Hall.
