Video: Media day with Iowa basketball and what to expect from the guard unit
By Dallas Jones
IOWA CITY, IA – The guard position is the most important position in college basketball, especially when it comes to March.
Fran McCaffery’s teams of late have been very wing and big man dependent. With the departures of Keegan Murray along with key guards Jordan Bohannon and Joe Touissant, there is space to be filled on this team.
Tony Perkins seems poised to make a jump along with a now veteran Ahron Ulis.
Coach McCaffery has stated multiple times that Freshmen Dasonte Bowen and Josh Dix has impressed early. Which could create a very deep rotation that McCaffery has not shied away from before.
Who will be the main unit? How will the young guards fit their minutes in? Who will step up in the scoring column?
Many of those questions are far from being answered, but at today’s media day we got a look into how the offseason has gone and what to look forward to this season.
