Des Moines North DL David Caulker flips his commitment to Iowa State
IOWA CITY, Iowa – The Iowa football team’s 2023 recruiting class has one less player as Des Moines North defensive lineman David Caulker announced on Twitter that he has switched his commitment to Iowa State after having been committed to Iowa for several months.
Caulker said in a statement that “since being offered a scholarship by Iowa State, “something always seemed to draw me back to the program, and it’s something my heart and soul couldn’t ignore.”
Caulker also thanked the Iowa coaches that handled his recruitment.
Caulker is the first player from Des Moines North to have a Power Five scholarship offer coming out of high school since offensive lineman Mark Butts in 1978.
The 6-foot-4, 250-pound Caulker is ranked as a three-star recruit by Rivals and he has at least eight scholarship offers from schools that include Minnesota, Missouri and Nebraska.
Iowa now has 19 recruits committed to its 2023 class, including three defensive ends and one defensive tackle.
