Defensive tackle Noah Shannon will return to Iowa for another season
IOWA CITY, Iowa – The Iowa defensive line was a strength this past season, and that could be the case again next season based on the returning players, which now includes senior tackle Noah Shannon.
The Illinois native announced that he would return to Iowa for a sixth season, using his free Covid year.
His announcment comes just two days after Iowa senior defensive end Joe Evans annnounced that he also would return next season.
Shannon ended the 2022 regular season with 44 tackles, including 8.5 for losses and two sacks.
The 6-foot, 289-pound Shannon has been a mainstay on the Iowa defensive line in each of the past two seasons.
His decision also helps to cover for the loss of third-year sophomore defensive lineman Lukas Van Ness, who announced this week that he would declare for the 2023 NFL draft.
Shannon and Evans will combine with returning tackles Logan Lee and Yahya Black, and defensive ends Deontae Craig and Ethan Hurkett, to form what should be a solid group on the defensive line, assuming they all return.
