Iowa Football Junior Day Roundup
Hawkeyes Host Key Recruits
IOWA CITY, Iowa – Iowa Football kicked off an important recruiting stretch with a well-attended junior day event on Sunday. The Hawkeyes invited in verbal commitments in the 2024 Class, along with key targets in that cycle and beyond.
HawkFanatic.com caught up with some of the attendees and gathered feedback on their experience.
Here’s a rundown of what we found out:
Andrew Lovett,’25, ATH, Blue Island (IL) Eisenhower
Skinny: Lovett picked up an Iowa scholarship offer during his junior day visit. Only a sophomore, his recruitment has gotten off to a great start, and the Hawkeyes have positioned themselves well here.
His Thoughts: “Iowa could be a good fit for me because they focus on making sure their players get their degree and have something to do once football comes to an end.”
Other Reported Offers: Akron, Ball State, Louisville, Missouri, Syracuse, Tennessee.

Khijohnn Cummings-Coleman, ’24, WR, Coon Rapids (MN) High
Skinny: Cummings-Coleman visited Iowa for its game against Northwestern in late October. The Hawkeyes offered during that stop. He returned for junior day and has built a good relationship with the staff, especially position coach Kelton Copeland.
His Thoughts: “I think I can fit in the role that the (Iowa) coaches want filled, and I think I could thrive there.”
Other Reported Offers: Central Michigan, Iowa State, Kansas, Minnesota, Northern Illinois.

Koi Perich, ’24, S, Esko (MN) High
Skinny: Iowa offered Perich a scholarship during his campus visit back in November, when he watched the Hawkeyes take on Nebraska. He’s proven to be one of the better safety recruits in the region and more offers likely will be headed his way.
His Thoughts: “I like the (Iowa) coaches because they are real and tell you straight up, you’re either gonna like it here or you won’t. I appreciate that.”
Other Reported Offers: Illinois, Kansas, Minnesota, Nebraska, Northwestern, Vanderbilt, Washington, Wisconsin.

Caleb Pyfrom, ’24, OL, Omaha (NE) Central
Skinny: Pyfrom (6-5, 300) visited Iowa for a game in November and the experience drew him back for junior day. He’s one of the top offensive linemen in this part of the country and already reports an impressive list of offers.
His Thoughts: “It seems like a tight-knit community. They work hard and develop people into NFL players. I feel great about Iowa, and they are towards the top right now.”
Other Reported Offers: Illinois, Iowa State, Kansas, Kansas State, Minnesota, Missouri, Nebraska, Penn State, Wyoming.

Drew Miller, ’24, P, Mediapolis (IA) High
Skinny: Miller has regularly visited Iowa since the in-state school began showing interest a few seasons ago. The Hawkeyes have not offered a scholarship like Iowa State, NC State and Air Force. Time will tell if he chooses walking on the local team if it doesn’t eventually pull the trigger, especially if other opportunities come his way.
His Thoughts: “Iowa could be a fit for me because of the emphasis and success with special teams. The schemes and punt style they run complements my ability as a punter as well.”
Reported Offers: Iowa State, NC State, Air Force.

Austin Alexander, ’24, CB, Chicago Heights (IL) Marian Catholic
Skinny: The Hawkeyes jumped in with a scholarship offer for Alexander during his junior day visit. They joined some stiff competition for the former Wisconsin verbal pledge but stand a solid chance of landing him with a strong history at his position and only being a few hours from home.
His Thoughts: “Iowa could be a good fit for me because it’s close to home and I love how their defense gets turnovers. I felt great after I left Iowa it’s a place I would deeply consider and visit again.”
Other Reported Offers: Wisconsin, Illinois, Iowa State, Michigan, Michigan State, Nebraska, Northern Illinois, Purdue, USC, Indiana, Syracuse.

Brevin Doll, ’24, RB, Adel (IA) A-D-M
Skinny: Ever since landing his first scholarship offer from Kansas State’s Chris Klieman on Jan. 26, Doll’s recruitment has taken off. He’s officially visited Iowa five times now, and the Hawkeyes are well-positioned. Now, it’s a matter of closing.
His Thoughts: “The player panel was one of the best parts (of Jr. Day). It’s good to hear first-hand from them about the day-to-day schedule and what to expect. I really like it there.”
Other Reported Offers: Iowa State, Kansas State, Oklahoma State, Minnesota, South Dakota, Northern Iowa and Princeton.
