Xavier Williams Reacts to Iowa Football Offer
Indiana RB Recently Visited Hawkeyes
Indiana running back Xavier Williams is spending time this Spring visiting college campuses. It’s what a lot of high school juniors are doing in search of their futures.
His travels brought him to Iowa City this past weekend. The Hawkeyes impressed him.
“What stood out most was how good the coaching staff is. They are easy to talk to and seem like good people,” Williams told HF.
Williams (6-0, 225) also has visited Iowa State, Purdue, Western Michigan, Toledo and Miami (Ohio) this month. He reported scholarship offers from Miami, Ball State, Western Michigan, Bowling Green, Toledo and Northern Illinois, among others.
Iowa liked what it saw of the St. John (IN) Lake Central High ball carrier on film. He enhanced his standing with the Hawkeyes during his campus stop.
Wednesday, they offered him a scholarship.
“They said my personality was good, and that I’m the type of kid they could see in their program,” he said.
In 10 games as a junior, Williams rushed for 1,451 yards (6.5 YPC) and 13 touchdowns, according to MaxPreps.com. He caught seven balls and completed his only throw for 42 yards.
Williams could see himself playing for the Hawkeyes.
“I think I would be a good fit because I know they work hard and so do I. So, it would make me a better player,” he said.
247Sports ranks Williams as a three-star prospect and the No. 69 running back nationally for ’23. The scouting service sees him as the 14th-best player overall in Indiana for the cycle.
Williams will be continuing with his recruiting process in hopes of finding a college home as soon as he feels it.
“The remaining steps are to just connect with the coaching staffs and see where I think the best fit for me is,” he said.
