Michael Burt Recaps Iowa Football Official
Omaha Tight End Checks Out Hawkeyes
It’s been a quick recruitment between Michael Burt and Iowa Football. The Hawkeyes offered the Omaha (NE) Creighton Prep tight end last Monday. He officially visited this past weekend.
Burt (6-5.5, 230) learned what it was like being an Iowa student-athlete. The stop reaffirmed what he liked about the program before arriving.
“What stood out to me most was the way they run offense using the tight end,” Burt said.
Iowa’s top returning player at the position, Luke Lachey, played host to Burt during his official.
“He’s extremely nice and a really good tight end,” Burt said.
Iowa became the first Power 5 program to offer Burt. It came hours before Illinois, Minnesota and Nebraska offered him on June 5. He was unofficially visiting the Golden Gophers that day.
Burt is scheduled to officially visit the home-state Huskers this coming weekend. He isn’t sure of his next move on the recruiting trail beyond that.
He did leave his Iowa visit holding the Hawkeyes in high regard.
“I’m feeling like I know it could be a great option,” he said.
Burt caught 11 passes for 187 yards and a touchdown during eight ’22 games, according to Max Preps. He added three carries for 23 yards.
When Iowa and the other Big Ten schools offered Burt scholarships last week, the major recruiting networks did not yet rank him. On3 and 247Sports have since rated him a three-star prospect and the No. 8 overall player in Nebraska for 2024.
