Elijah Hoyt Checks Out Hawkeye Tailgater
'25 Urbandale S Talks Iowa Football Visit
Elijah Hoyt enjoyed his first Iowa Football visit this past weekend. The 2025 Urbandale safety attended the program’s annual recruiting tailgater, designed for prep prospects with more than one year of high school remaining.
“What stood out to me was how easy it was to talk to the coaches,” Hoyt told HF. “It was very comforting.”
Hoyt (6-1, 170) contributed in multiple areas for the J-Hawks as a sophomore in ’22. He rushed for a touchdown, he caught a scoring pass, he recorded 10 solo tackles, and he returned nine kicks for 196 yards (21.8 YPR).
The Hawkeyes are recruiting him as a defensive back.
“I like DB for the reason that it’s a challenging position and you really have to work to be good at it,” he said.
It’s a big upcoming season for Hoyt in proving himself to college scouts. He’s ready.
“I just want to show coaches that I have a good character, and that I can lead a team even if we lose, along with showing them athletic ability,” he said.
Hoyt displays plenty of potential when you watch his sophomore highlights (below). He’s a versatile athlete that lines up in the slot and at running back, showing quickness and toughness in making plays. Defensively, he holds up well against the run and in coverage.
