Hawk Fanatic Week 5 predictions
IOWA CITY, Iowa – From a White Out at Penn State to a Blackout at Kinnick Stadium, what a difference a week makes for the Iowa football team.
The Hawkeyes will look to rebound from last Saturday’s 31-0 loss at Penn State when they face Michigan State on Saturday in a nationally televised night game at Kinnick Stadium.
Iowa has gone from being a 14.5-underdog against the Nittany Lions to a 12.5 favorite against the Spartans, who are dealing with the loss of Mel Tucker, who was officially terminated as head coach this past Wednesday. Tucker is under university investigation for a sexual misconduct complaint brought by Brenda Tracy, a sexual assault awareness speaker.
The Spartans started the season 2-0, but have lost two straight games and have been outscored 72-16 in those two losses.
Iowa fans are encouraged to wear black to Saturday’s game to help create a home-field advantage.
Our panel from Hawk Fanatic has gone from all four picking Iowa to lose to Penn State to all four picking Iowa to win Saturday.
Again, what a difference a week makes.

Iowa 23, Michigan State 10: – Kirk Ferentz lets Max White attempt a 65-yard field goal in the closing seconds as a way to mock the 25-point performance incentive in Brian Ferentz’s contract.
Purdue 11, Illinois 9: You can’t blame this score on Brian Ferentz.
Kentucky 24, Florida 20: Mark Stoops turns down a chance to kick a last-second field goal because he doesn’t have a silly 25-point performance incentive in his contract.
Notre Dame 31, Duke 23: The Fighting Irish will prevail despite only using 10 players on defense throughout the game.
USC 41, Colorado 37: USC coach Lincoln Riley breathes a sigh of relief after this win because he knows that Coach Prime and the Buffaloes aren’t headed to the Big Ten.
Last week: 3-2
Overall: 13-7
