Video: Iowa survives another inconsistent day on offense with a 20-14 victory over Purdue
By Dallas Jones
IOWA CITY, IOWA – Every week seems to bring the same questions and results for the Hawkeye offense. Missed throws, drops, short drives, etc. The experience has not what Hawkeye fans hoped for after the off-season, but there is still lots of football left.
A bright spot was the return of lead back Kaleb Johnson, who had no issue making his presence felt immediately with a long TD run in the first five minutes of the game, building off his 200 yard game on the ground against the Boilermakers last year.
Deacon Hill took command of the offense today and while he brought an absolute cannon of an arm, much of the game he looked similar to a hard-throwing reliever in baseball, out of control.
Nonetheless, the Hawkeyes once again found a way to win.
The players and Head Coach Kirk Ferentz met with media after to discuss the offensive woes, big plays on all sides of the field, mistakes, and how to move forward.
