2025 Wisconsin 3-star TE Eli Johnson commits to Iowa
IOWA CITY, Iowa – A tight end from Wisconsin is the latest high school player to commit to the Iowa football team’s 2025 recruiting class.
Eli Johnson, a 6-foot-5, 220-pound native of River Falls, Wisconsin, announced his commitment to Iowa via X on Wednesday.
Johnson picked Iowa over scholarships from schools that include Minnesota, Iowa State, Purdue, Kansas, Michigan State, Missouri, West Virginia and North Dakota State.
He is ranked as a three-star recruit by On3 and by Rivals.
Johnson reportedly had 17 catches for 214 yards and six touchdowns while playing in eight games last season.
Iowa has a long and distinguished history of developing standout tight ends under head coach Kirk Ferentz. The success has earned Iowa the nickname Tight End U.
Johnson is the sixth player to commit to Iowa’s 2025 recruiting class, and the second tight end.
He joins quarterback Jimmy Sullivan from Fort Wayne, Indiana; tight end Thomas Meyer from Clear Lake; lineman Joey VanWetZinga from Pleasant Valley; linebacker Carson Cooney from Oswego, Illinois; and safety Burke Gautcher from Sycamore, Illinois.
