IOWA CITY, Iowa – The Iowa men’s basketball team defeated Nebraska in overtime on Tuesday and then added a player from the transfer portal on Wednesday as Miami (Fla.) forward Isaiah Johnson-Arigu has committed to the Hawkeyes.
Johnson-Arigu told On3sports that he will enroll at Iowa for the spring semester.
The 6-foot-7 former four-star recruit will sit out the remainder of the 2024-25 season.
Johnson-Arigu is from Minneapolis and he appeared in seven games for Miami this season and averaged just 4.9 minutes per game.
Iowa had tried to recruit Johnson-Arigu out of high school, but he ultimately signed with Miami.
He entered the transfer portal after Miami head coach Jim Larranaga suddenly retired the day after Christmas. That opened a 30-day window for all the Miami players.
