Colin Whitters Commits to Hawkeyes
Iowa City West Lineman Staying Home
By Rob Howe
When Colin Whitters packs for college, he won’t need worry about forgetting anything. He can just cruise home and get it.
That’s because the Iowa City West offensive lineman announced on Monday that he was committing to the University of Iowa. The most recent of his frequent visits to campus was for Saturday’s junior day.
Whitters (6-4, 300) dominates on both sides of the trench for the Trojans. The Hawkeyes are recruiting him as an offensive lineman.
Iowa now has five verbal commitments in its 2026 recruiting class. Whitters joins Waterloo West OL Carson Nielsen, Michigan DB Marcello Vitti, Minnesota OL Owen Linder and California quarterback Cash Herrera in the cycle.
Prep Redzone Iowa ranks Whitters as the No. 7 overall player in the state for ’26. On3 also puts him seventh and 247Sports has him at eight.
Whitters also reported scholarship offers from Iowa State and Kansas State. The Hawkeyes now have landed Trojans in two consecutive classes with Mason Woods, son of assistant coach LeVar Woods, pledging in the ’25 cycle. They’ve also offered ’26 West Athlete Julian Manson, son of assistant Jason Manson.
