IOWA CITY, Iowa – Former Iowa forward Owen Freeman has committed to Creighton.
The news was first reported by On3’s Joe Tipton.
The 6-foot-10 Freeman entered the transfer portal on March 15, the day after Fran McCaffrey was fired as the Iowa head coach. Freeman then quickly became one of the most sought-after players in the portal.
His sophomore season was cut short due to a finger injury that required surgery in early February.
Freeman was leading Iowa in scoring, rebounding and blocks at the time with averages of 16.7, 6.7 and 1.8, respectively.
He was also named the Big Ten Co-Freshman of the Year in 2024.
Freeman is one of seven former Iowa players that have entered the portal since Fran McCaffery was let go.

New Iowa head coach Ben McCollum, who was introduced on Tuesday, is hoping that some of the Hawkeyes in the portal will decide to stay at Iowa.
Junior guard Josh Dix, who is from Council Bluffs, is one of the more coveted players in the portal, and he also has Creighton as one of the schools pursuing him.
Sophomore forward Pryce Sandfort is also expected to visit Nebraska.
Senior center Riley Mulvey announced recently on social media that he will return to his home state of New York to play for Siena next season.
Sophomore point guard Brock Harding is reportedly down to three schools: TCU, Louisville and Washington.
Harding averaged 8.8 points and 5.3 assists per game this season.
Harding and Freeman also played their senior year of high school together, leading Moline High School in Illinois to a state title.
