Iowa ranked 20th in first College Football Playoff rankings

IOWA CITY, Iowa – The Iowa football team is ranked 20th in the first College Playoff Rankings that were announced Tuesday evening.
Iowa (6-2, 4-1 Big Ten) is one of seven Big Ten teams in the rankings and will face Oregon on Saturday at Kinnick Stadium. The Ducks are ranked ninth in the College Playoff Rankings and sixth in the Associated Press poll.
The surging Hawkeyes, who are not ranked in the AP poll, have won three straight games and will have to win their remaining four games to stay in the playoff hunt.
The college playoff has been expanded to 12 teams.
Ohio State is ranked first in the Playoff Rankings followed by Indiana and Texas A&M.
Iowa fell to Indiana 20-15 on Sept. 27 at Kinnick Stadium. It is the closest any opponent has come to defeating the Hoosiers this season.
