IOWA CITY, Iowa – The Iowa football team received an early Christmas present on Sunday as 2027 athlete Jaxx DeJean announced his commitment to the Hawkeyes.
Jaxx DeJean is the younger brother of former Iowa All-America cornerback Cooper DeJean, who now plays for the Philadelphia Eagles.
Jaxx DeJean, who is listed at 6-foot-4 and 200 pounds, is being recruited to play tight end for Iowa.
He announced his commitment on X, using a graphic with the title “FAMILY BUSINESS.”
The graphic, which was created by PT GRAPHICS, also has tight end written next to his name.
Coper DeJean posted this response to his brother’s commitment on X:
“Let’s gooo!!! Proud of you brotha!
Jaxx DeJean has played multiple positions for his high school team including wide receiver, tight end, quarterback and defensive back.
He had 36 catches for 461 yards and six touchdowns this past season. He also rushed for 207 yards, passed for 149 yards and had 18.5 tackles and three interceptions on defense.
“I’m sure Iowa is hoping that lightening strikes twice,” said veteran recruiting analyst Tom Lemming. “He’s got very good size, length, decent speed and dominates his division. ”
Jaxx DeJean picked Iowa over scholarship offers from Kansas State, Michigan, Alabama-Birmingham and UNLV.
The Odebolt native is ranked as a four-star prospect by Rivals and as a three-star recruit by 247Sports.
Jaxx DeJean is the third player to commit to Iowa’s 2027 recruiting class, joining linebackers Gavin Stecker from Bettendorf and Braylon Bingham from Pleasantville.
