Hawkeyes Building Bond with Brady Scott
'27 MA Athlete Back at Iowa
Iowa Football has made Brady Scott feel like a priority recruit since offering him a scholarship in March. The Hawkeyes presented the Class of 2027 prospect with the opportunity during a campus visit.
The relationship has continued growing since then.
“It’s definitely a lot stronger,” Scott said. “I am in communication with the coaches, especially coach (Chris) Polizzi, almost every week.”
Iowa was one of the first programs to offer Scott. The Hawkeyes came in behind Syracuse, Boston College, UConn, UMass and Minnesota. Rutgers, Wisconsin, Duke, Indiana, Kentucky, Penn State and Maryland have jumped in since the Hawkeye offer.
Scott wanted to check out the game-day environment at Kinnick Stadium this season. The Marion (MA) Tabor Academy athlete finally made it back to campus for the Hawkeyes’ thrilling, come-from-behind victory against Michigan State late last month. The coaches made him feel wanted.
“I would say just how much time they spent with me and my family,” Scott said about what stood out during the visit.
“I was able to meet with coach (Kirk) Ferentz and coach (Phil) Parker for while before the game. We talked about expectations of the game and how the season had been going, family, etc. It was definitely impactful. They made me feel like I was priority to them. I also spent a lot of time with coach Polizzi, coach (Tyler) Barnes and coach (Jason) Manson. The win and comeback in the fourth (quarter) was incredible, too.”
A versatile athlete at 6-feet, 195 pounds, Scott plays for an institution in the New England Prep School Athletic Council (NEPSAC), the largest league in that part of the country. On his Hudl page, he reports running the 40-yard dash in 4.61 seconds with a vertical leap of 34 inches. He bench presses 245 pounds with 10 reps at 185 pounds. His squat is 385 pounds and his dead lift is 425.
His versatility keeps the door open at multiple positions on the next level. Iowa sees him in the secondary.
“They have consistently had a great defense with a great defensive coach with coach Parker. I could definitely see myself playing in the many schemes they put on the field. I could fit their safety or cash position well,” he said.
Scott and his family have taken time to check out the area during their visits.
“I like the feel of Iowa City and how it blends in with the campus,” he said.
The Hawkeyes have positioned themselves well in Scott’s recruitment.
“Iowa is at the top with one or two others right now. They have just put a lot time into getting to know me, and I appreciate that,” he said.
Academics also rank as an important part of Scott’s process in finding a future home.
“I’m undecided (on a major) right now. I’m interested in real estate; maybe even Sports Management or Business. I’m still deciding,” he said.
