IOWA CITY, Iowa – Chase Grove, a 2028 three-star quarterback from Indianapolis, has committed to the Iowa football team.
Grove is currently in Iowa City on an unofficial visit.
News of his commitment broke just minutes before the start of the Iowa-Iowa State football game on Saturday at Kinnick Stadium.
Grove is the first quarterback to commit to Iowa’s 2028 recruiting class.
He attends North Central High School in Indianapolis.
“He’s a decent sized QB with a good arm,” said veteran recruiting analyst Tom Lemming. “Very smart, makes good decisions, is a precision passer; somewhere between the three-star plus and four-star QB.”
In four games this season, the 6-foot-2, 180-pound Grove has passed for 1,004 yards, 10 touchdowns and three interceptions.
As a first-year starter last fall, Grove completed 154-of-241 passes for 1,901 yards, 19 touchdowns and four interceptions. He also had 27 carries for 154 yards as a sophomore last season.
Grove picked Iowa over reported scholarship offers from Purdue, Kansas, Minnesota, Iowa State, Kansas State and North Carolina.
He is the third player to commit to Iowa’s 2028 recruiting class, joining Iowa City West offensive lineman James Barnett and Baltimore, Maryland defensive back Dwayle Smith.
Barnett is the son of Iowa offensive line coach George Barnett.
