Eli Kampman Commits to Hawkeyes
Iowa Legacy Staying Home
Iowa Football added a familiar name to its roster on Wednesday. The program announced the addition of Solon High senior Eli Kampman on social media, saying “Black and Gold in the blood.”
Kampman is the son of former Hawkeye and NFL defensive lineman Aaron Kampman, who is an assistant coach at Solon. After playing quarterback and in the secondary for the Spartans during his prep career, Iowa announced Eli as a safety on Wednesday.
Solon reached the Class 3A state semifinals this past season with Kampman (6-2, 190) starting his first season behind center. He completed over 61 percent of his throws for 2,230 yards and 29 touchdowns against 12 interceptions, and rushed for 488 yards and five scores. The Iowa High School Football Coaches Association named him its first-team all-state signal caller.
On defense, Kampman collected 27.0 tackles, 21 of which were solo stops. He two fumbles and picked off a pair of passes, taking one of them back for a touchdown. The well-rounded athlete also had a Pick-6 as a junior and caught a TD in 2024.
Kampman announced that he’d received a preferred walk-on opportunity from Duke in October and a scholarship offer from Sioux Falls in June. It was reported by On3/Rivals that he was joining the Hawkeyes as a walk-on.
