IOWA CITY, Iowa – The Iowa football team is known for producing highly successful defensive backs and Jonathan Harris wants to be a part of that tradition.
Harris, a 6-foot-2, 175-pound three-star defensive back from Oak Lawn, Illinois, committed to Iowa on Monday, announcing his commitment on social media.
He is the 12th player to commit to Iowa’s 2027 recruiting class.
Harris picked Iowa over reported scholarships offers from Chicago State, Butler, Missouri State, Sacramento State, Western Illinois and Missouri State.
Harris has helped lead Brother Rice High School to a 2025 state championship and is also a two-time state qualifier in wrestling.
“He’s a good ball player, three-star plus type,” said veteran recruiting analyst Tom Lemming. “He has very good length and plays for one of the top teams in the Midwest. Good all-around athlete.”
