IOWA CITY, Iowa – Not just one but at least two highly acclaimed 2027 point guards have plans to visit the Iowa men’s basketball program.
News broke on Tuesday that Cayden Daughtry, a 6-foot point guard from Calvary Christian High School in Fort Lauderdale, Florida, will visit Iowa.
Daughtry is ranked as a five-star prospect and he has over two dozen scholarship offers from schools, which in addition to Iowa, include Michigan, Florida State, Miami (Fla.), Florida, BYU, Illinois, Kentucky, Louisville, Ohio State, Virginia and UConn among others.
Daughtry averaged 26.5 points, 5.2 assists, 4.5 rebounds and 2.7 steal per game as junior last season. He led his high school team to a 24-1 record and to its second consecutive state championship.
Meanwhile, it was also reported on Monday that Jaxson Davis, a 6-0 point guard from Gurnee, Illinois, will visit Iowa on Sept. 19. Davis is ranked as a four-star recruit and has over a dozen scholarship offers.
Iowa has momentum on the recruiting trail after having advanced to the NCAA Elite Eight this past season under first-year head coach Ben McCollum. It was Iowa’s first trip to the Elite Eight since 1987.
Restocking the point guard position is a priority for McCollum with former All-Big Ten point guard Bennett Stirtz having used up his eligibility this past season, and with senior-to-be guard Kael Combs having just one more season of eligibility.
