IOWA CITY, Iowa – Iowa baseball player Kyle Alivo made his second guest appearance on the Hawk Fanatic radio show and podcast on Friday.
Alivo, a third-year sophomore from Franklin, Wisconsin, is currently playing for the Hyannis Harbor Hawks in the Cape Cod League. And to say that he is living up to his reputation as a talented two-way player would be an understatement.
Alivo recently went 4-for-4 in a game, including hitting a home run, and he also has been named the Pitcher of the Week.
He has five hits overall and he’s pitched eight innings, allowing just two hits with eight strikeouts.
Alivo was a semifinalist for the John Olerud Two-Way Player of the Year Award this past season for the Hawkeyes.
He led Iowa with a 3.48 earned-run average while appearing in 17 games as a pitcher this past season. He also led the team with 67 strikeouts in 51 2/3 innings.
As a batter, Alivo made 28 plate appearances and recorded eight hits, including four doubles. He also had seven RBI.
Alivo recently announced that he would return to Iowa for his sophomore season, giving head coach Rick Heller a key piece to build around.
