Iowa senior Kooper Schulte selected by New York Mets in 20th round of 2026 Major League Baseball Draft

IOWA CITY, Iowa – University of Iowa senior Kooper Schulte was selected by the New York Mets in the 20th round of the 2026 Major League Baseball Draft. Schulte was the 600th overall pick.
Schulte is the 39th player drafted under head coach Rick Heller.
The New London, Iowa, native started all 56 games and batted .274 with 61 hits, 50 runs scored, nine home runs and 39 RBIs.
Schulte appeared in 103 games during his Hawkeye career, making 87 starts. He finished with 71 runs scored, 94 hits, 12 home runs, and 64 RBIs.
Iowa concluded the 2026 season with a 33-23 overall record and advanced to the Big Ten Tournament for the 11th consecutive season.
