Hawk Fanatic podcast: Don Patterson breaks down Penn State drubbing and looks ahead to MSU
IOWA CITY, Iowa – As a former college football coach for nearly four decades, Don Patterson knows what it takes to bounce back from a deflating loss, and the support from fans is a big part of it.
The former Iowa offensive coordinator under Hayden Fry, and former Western Illinois head coach, encouraged Iowa fans to show up in full force for the Michigan State game on Saturday at Kinnick Stadium because the team needs your support as it tries to bounce back from the 31-0 loss at Penn State.
As bad as Iowa’s performance on offense was against Penn State, Patterson still believes in this Iowa team, and that is due partly to the remaining schedule.
Even with all the problems on offense, a case could be made for Iowa being favored in all but one of its remaining games, the one exception being the Wisconsin game on Oct., 14 in Madison, Wisconsin.
Of course, that could change depending on what happens on the field, but right now at this moment, only the Badgers look superior to Iowa, but not by much.
Rutgers might be the second best opponent left on Iowa’s schedule if that tells you anything.
Don’s segment starts at the beginning of the podcast and lasts for about one hour.
