ADDISON, Ill. – Roselle (IL) Lake Park High standout Mike Panasiuk excelled at Sunday’s The Opening Chicago Regional. He walked away with Defensive Line MVP honors.

Here’s what I saw: Generously listed at 6-foot-3, 285 pounds, Panasiuk doesn’t turn heads by appearance alone. It’s when he lines up over a center or guard that it becomes apparent that he’s a Power 5 level defensive tackle. Panasiuk flies off the ball with a variety of moves to beat the blocker. He plays low and understands leverage. What he lacks in natural gifts he makes up for by being a technician.
