Film/Evaluation: Naquan Jones Opening Chicago
ADDISON, Ill – Evanston (IL) Township High standout Naquan Jones stayed close to home to compete against top competition at Sunday’s The Opening Chicago Regional here at Addison Trail High School. The highly-regarded defensive lineman didn’t disappoint.
Here’s What I Saw: Stating the obvious, the 6-foot-4, 285-pound Jones is a big kid. While he’s still a bit raw in terms of technique, his physical and athletic gifts are easily apparent. It’s hard to say whether he’ll be an inside or outside player at the next level. His best fit might be as a 3-4 end but he’s not locked into that. Iowa offered Jones a scholarship almost a year ago, one of the first programs to do so. He’s since picked up opportunities from Nebraska, Wisconsin, Michigan State, Penn State, South Carolina, Michigan, Ohio State and others, decreasing the Hawkeyes’ chances.
