Onwenu Physical Force at Opening Chicago

ADDISON, Ill. – Detroit Cass Tech standout Michael Onwenu was one of the few prospects who worked out on both sides of the ball here Sunday at The Opening Chicago Regional. He impressed at each.

Here’s What I saw: A big body on top and bottom, Onwenu moves quickly and smoothly. He saw more reps here at guard and that’s probably his best projection for college at this point but he’s athletic enough to be a very good defensive tackle as well. Onwenu understands leverage and uses his hands well inside. He also shows good footwork. For me, he was the top offensive lineman at this event and that included four-star Ben Bredeson from Wisconsin. The Hawkeyes were not listed on Rivals, Scout or 247 as being involved with Onwenu, who holds offers from Alabama, Ohio State and Michigan, among others.
