Recruits Expected at Kinnick Saturday

IOWA CITY, Iowa – The College Football Playoff Committee isn’t the only group the Iowa football team is looking to impress this weekend. A large group of recruits are expected at Kinnick Stadium for Saturday night’s rivalry game against Minnesota.

Approximately 42 prospects have told the Hawkeye coaches they’ll be in town to watch their fifth-ranked team try to become the first one in school history to start the season at 10-0.

Among the collection of high schoolers, Iowa Class of 2016 verbal commitments Toks Akrinabade, Cole Banwart, Noah Fant, T.J. Hockenson, Amani Hooker, Amani Jones, Nick Niemann, Austin Schulte, Spencer Williams and Toren Young have said they’d be at the game ( 7p.m. CT, BTN. Coy Kirkpatrick, a ’17 pledge, also indicated he’d be in attendance.

In the crowd of uncommitted players, three hold Hawkeye scholarship offers(offers in parenthesis):

-Jacob Coons, ’17, TE, Solon (IA) High (Iowa, Iowa State)

-Jaylen Kelly-Powell, ’17, S, Detroit Cass Tech (Duke, Indiana, Iowa, Kentucky, Michigan, Minnesota, North Carolina, Northwestern, Notre Dame, Ohio State, Pittsburgh, Stanford, UCLA, Vanderbilt, West Virginia, Wisconsin)
