Monday’s podcast talks Prime Time League with Randy Larson
IOWA CITY, Iowa – The Prime Time League will celebrate its 30th birthday this summer.
However, Iowa fans will have to wait longer than usual to celebrate the anniversary since the starting date for the PTL has been pushed back two weeks to June 30th.
PTL commissioner Randy Larson, who started the summer basketball league in 1987, said the delay was due to a snag in the application process with the NCAA.
Larson talks in detail about the delay in the podcast.
He also confirmed that all five members of Iowa’s incoming recruiting class will participate in the PTL this summer, along with the current members of the team.
Former Hawkeye Matt Gatens is expected to compete in the PTL, which plays its games at the North Liberty Community Center and in Waterloo.
Past and current members of the Northern Iowa men’s basketball team also will compete in the PTL this summer.
The start of the women’s Game Time League has been pushed back to July 7 because of the same delay with the application process.
There is no cost for admission to either summer league.
