AH-TV: Fran McCaffery, Iowa players discuss win over Purdue
IOWA CITY, Iowa – The Iowa players had reason to celebrate on Thursday after defeating Purdue 83-78 at Carver-Hawkeye Arena.
Iowa overcame a nine-point halftime deficit to bounce back from an 89-67 loss at Purdue in its Big Ten opener on Dec. 28 in West Lafayette, Ind.
Iowa improved to 3-2 in Big Ten play and 11-7 overall behind 29 points and eight assists from senior guard Peter Jok. Iowa also got help from its strong core of freshman, who combined to score 40 of Iowa's 83 points.
The Hawkeyes also outscored the Boilermakers 40-20 in the paint despite the size of Purdue's Isaac Haas and Caleb Swanigan.
Iowa next faces Northwestern on Sunday in Evanston, Ill.
