AH TV: Iowa players look ahead to Ohio State, alternate uniforms
IOWA CITY, Iowa – The Iowa football players seem to care more about alternate uniforms than point spreads.
That was the message during Iowa's weekly press conference on Tuesday in preparation for Saturday's game against third-ranked Ohio State at Kinnick Stadium. Iowa began the week as a 16-point underdog, but has played the Buckeyes close in the last three games, losing by a combined 16 points, including two games by just three points.
Iowa also will wear blackout alternate uniforms on Saturday, and the players raved about them on Tuesday, saying the new look helps with team morale and brings excitement.
The players will need all the help they can get on Saturday, considering Iowa has only defeated Ohio State once since 1992.
The lone victory came in 2004 by the shocking score of 33-7 at Kinnick Stadium. Iowa would go on to win a share of the Big Ten title that season,
Iowa and Ohio State haven't played since 2013 when the Buckeyss won 34-24 in Columbus.
