IOWA CITY, Iowa – Three-star receiver Desmond Hutson doesn’t want his college football experience to feel like a business partnership between him and the coaching staff.

The Raytown, Mo. native got the impression that that would not be the case were he to choose Iowa, which also happens to be the only school to have offered him to this point.

Hutson felt that the atmosphere at Iowa was ideal during his junior day visit over the weekend.

“What stood out the most to me was the love and honesty between all the coaches,” Hutson said. “I felt the love as soon as I got there and they told me what it would be like if I was there and didn’t hold anything back.”

Hutson was awed by Iowa’s football facility, which was built in 2012.

The 6-foot-4, 190-pound Hutson also enjoyed that head coach Kirk Ferentz and his staff are not opposed to playing freshmen if they feel that the players can contribute. 

“The indoor football field and the weight room really caught my eye,” Hutson said. “It was definitely something I could get used to.

“And from a football standpoint, I was told that they don’t believe in not playing true freshmen. If they’re good enough they’ll play and I like that.”

Some recruits elect to let the recruiting process play out to see what other offers may come, but Hutson thinks he’ll make a decision sooner rather than later.

Iowa currently has three players committed to its 2019 recruiting class.
