Recruitment of Norwalk point guard Bowen Born picking up

IOWA CITY, Iowa – At this point, 2020 point guard Bowen Born is no stranger to the Iowa basketball team.
The Norwalk, Iowa native has visited Iowa several times since first coming into contact with head coach Fran McCaffery and his staff in 2017.
One thing, however, is still missing.
“(A scholarship offer) would mean a lot,” Born said. “I am interested in them and although I wouldn’t say an offer is my biggest focus, it would still be a super good feeling.”
While there was already mutual interest between the 5-foot-11, 160-pound Born and Iowa, things have been gaining steam as of late.
“Things have definitely picked up recently,” Born said. “I have been on campus two times in the last week so there has been more interest, which is exciting.”
However, Iowa is just one of a handful of schools that have been showing interest in Born, who averaged just under 28 points per game last season while shooting 48 percent from the field.
“Northern Iowa, Drake, Bowling Green, Toledo, Indiana State and South Dakota have been the most involved because they have offered,” Born said. “Schools that haven’t (offered) have been Iowa, Creighton, Minnesota, Colorado State and Omaha.”
Born’s former high school teammate, Tyler Endres, is an incoming freshman offensive lineman on the Iowa football team.
