Iowa offer a surprise for four-star tight end Micah Riley

IOWA CITY, Iowa – Four-star tight end Micah Riley thought he might receive a scholarship offer from Iowa at some point, but wasn’t expecting it to come Tuesday.
The 2022 Bellevue, Neb., native has had his eye on the Hawkeyes for a while now, which makes the offer even more special.
“They put guys in the league, especially at tight end,” Riley said. “Growing up Iowa was my dream school so it’s surreal.”
The 6-foot-5, 228-pound Riley has another connection to Iowa in that he is teammates with 2021 Iowa commit Keagan Johnson.
“That’s my guy,” Riley said. “He was as excited as me. We talk about playing at Iowa together all the time. It’s good to have someone close to a school I’m considering.”
Another of Riley’s teammates in the 2022 class, fellow tight end Kaden Helms, also received an offer from Iowa on Tuesday.
Riley has Power Five scholarship offers from Arkansas, Iowa State, Michigan, Michigan State, Nebraska, Oregon, Penn State and Wisconsin, among others.
Riley said he does not currently have any favorites and wants to take as many visits as he can before narrowing things down.
