IOWA CITY, Iowa – The Iowa football team added an in-state player from the NCAA transfer portal Monday when Burlington native and former Northern Iowa defensive back Xavior Williams announced his commitment to the Hawkeyes via Twitter.
The 5-foot-11, 190-pound Williams was recruited by Iowa in high school but never received a scholarship offer from the Hawkeyes.
Last season, Williams played in 15 games, finishing with 50 tackles, one interception and two fumble recoveries. He returned 20 punts for 116 yards and brought back five kickoffs for 82 yards.
Williams also was named a freshman All-American in 2017.
